Already, 42 inch PDP offers an unparalleled quality for a large-screen flat
panel display. The next step will be to refine the technology for use with high
definition televisions. This will also require an even larger screen since the
advantages of a high definition picture are best appreciated on screens larger
than 50 inches.
Multimedia is gradually moving from a vague concept to a real product for
many consumers. The integration of computer technology, game technology and
televisions into a single unit is becoming likelier as home-use computers become
more powerful. PDP is the perfect platform for this coming together and its
versatility will open up new possibilities for home entertainment.
Today's Plasma TV technology is ideally suited for display applications with
screen sizes in the range approximately 30 to over 60 inches. In the coming
years, the Flat TV can be expected to increasingly fill the gap between today's
large-screen TVs with conventional CRT tubes, with sizes up to around 36 inches,
and the larger projection TV systems with screen sizes of 60 to 80 inches and
even more. External forecasts predict a fast-growing interest in large-screen
`home cinema' viewing, which together with the New Flat TV's tremendous
potential for professional use indicates a rapid increase in sales. But whatever
the actual figures turn out to be, one thing is clear: New Flat TV is the
technology that really brings the breakthrough in display quality and impact for
real home cinema viewing and high-quality professional display applications.
